Tips Home - Home Alarm Systems Offer More than Just Burglary Protection

If you want to secure your home from unwanted intruders, there are a ton of home alarm systems currently on the market that will help you do just that. In fact, burglary protection is often the number one reason people choose to install an alarm system in their home in the first place.

But protection from unwanted intruders is not the only danger homeowners should be worried about. There are plenty of other dangers such as a house fire, carbon monoxide poisoning, medical emergency, or even a home invasion. Fortunately, today's home alarm systems can be equipped with devices to offer valuable protection against all of these dangers. And surprisingly these options are lot more affordable that you might think. Fire protection comes in the form of smoke detectors or heat detectors. Both hardwired and wireless home alarm systems can be equipped with these devices, and having at least one of each installed in a home is highly recommended. In a two story house, there should be at least one fire protection device on each floor. However, there would be no problem with installing more than one if a budget allows.

Carbon monoxide detectors help protect families from carbon monoxide poisoning. Since carbon monoxide is both odorless and colorless, it can often go undetected by humans, eventually resulting in sickness or even death. The CO detectors that are installed on home alarm systems differ from the units that you would buy in a hardware store or any other retailer.

Most people choose to have their security company install and connect in their CO detectors with their home alarm systems and have the detectors monitored 24/7 by a monitoring center. If high levels of carbon monoxide are detected, the monitoring center will be alerted and the appropriate calls will be made.

Medical emergencies are often another reason to have an alarm system installed and monitored in a home. Years ago, someone who wanted medical buttons installed and monitored in a home would need to go through a company that specialized in providing medical alert systems. These buttons were not as readily available as they are now. These days, most wireless home alarm systems have the capability to have medical emergency buttons programmed on them. Now there is no need to buy a separate system when medical buttons can be added so easily onto a family's home alarm system.

The subject of home invasions is often too intense for many to talk about. However, home invasions are occurring at an alarming rate throughout our country, and they show no signs of slowing down. Portable or fixed panic buttons can be easily added to most home alarm systems to grant homeowners peace of mind and offer them protection in the event of a home invasion.

Burglaries, fires, medical emergencies, and home invasions are all events nobody wants to experience. However, monitored home alarm systems equipped with life-safety devices can get families the immediate help that they need should one of these unfortunate events ever occur in their home.
